I’m a phonetician and speech technology engineer working at the intersection of linguistic science and AI. My research focuses on speech production and perception, particularly the phonetics of conversational speech, nasalized fricatives, and tonal languages.

I formerly taught in the Human Language Technology program at the University of Arizona, where I offered courses in computational linguistics, statistical NLP, and advanced speech technology. Previously, I was an Associate AI Engineer at ETS, where I built speech scoring systems for language learning applications including TOEFL and TOEIC products.

I hold a PhD in Linguistics from the University of Arizona, with specializations in phonetics and cognitive science. My dissertation investigated the phonetics of Mandarin tones in conversation.
